I'm Sachin, the founder of Hola Namaste. I live in Mumbai, India and I have lived in France and Spain. My prior work in language services in Spanish and French includes:

  • E-learning Content Development: for online multimedia courses for English-medium high school students in Spanish and French
  • Translation: I received the BITS All-India Corporate Professional Translator of the Year 2013 Award (pic below).
  • Interpretation: I have interpreted for a cardiologist at a large Mumbai hospital with patients from francophone Africa, as well as the telemedicine department of a hospital for the web-seminars it organizes for its doctors with doctors in Africa.
  • Voice: I have done voice work for a medical documentary and a television serial.
  •  Subtitling: I have subtitled for a French documentary.
  • Tour guiding: I have guided a French tourist group for 2 weeks in the Indian Himalayas on behalf of one of France's largest travel companies.
  • Editing: I'm the editor of Gaylaxy Hindi, India's first Hindi-language LGBTI magazine and I have significant translation experience in Marathi, Hindi and Urdu as well.

I graduated as an engineer and while I worked in tech, I backpacked through Europe. I fell in love with the French and Spanish language. On returning to India, I joined the Alliance Française, Mumbai and got a D.A.L.F. C1 (Diplôme Approfondi de Langue Française) degree in French. I was lucky to be able to do an exchange semester at Euromed, a business school in Marseille, France, in 2007 while I studied international business management at NMIMS, Mumbai. During my time there, I traveled in Spain for a bit, and decided to learn Spanish. I will be appearing for my D.E.L.E. C1 (Diplomas de Español como Lengua Extranjera) degree in Spanish soon. My interest in teaching was nurtured during my 2-year stint as a Teach For India as a full-time Teaching Fellow in grades 3 and 4 of Supari Tank Municipal Primary School, Mumbai. I like to work at the trisection of languages, education and technology.
